Prominent minority leader Jai Parkash has left Imran Khan’s PTI party following the violence that erupted after the former prime minister’s arrest on May 9. He condemned the violent protests and urged Pakistanis to stand with the army.

Another major blow for the party came on Tuesday when human rights activist Shireen Mazari announced her resignation and retirement from active politics. She condemned those who attacked and torched military installations during the May 9 protests.

Hisham Ullah Khan

The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) is a Pakistani political party led by Imran Khan. The party is opposed to the Pakistani military establishment and seeks a welfare state. Its leaders argue that the government should provide free healthcare, education, and jobs to all citizens and end religious discrimination. It also wants to eliminate police brutality and promote freedom of expression and thought. The party is headquartered in Islamabad, Pakistan.

The party was hampered in the 2018 local elections by violence, which saw its supporters burning vehicles and damaging property in cities across the country. Its performance was particularly poor in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, where it failed to win more than 5% of the vote in any constituency. The party's supporters have also been involved in rioting against the army in several towns. Video footage has emerged on social media of PTI supporters attacking police stations and destroying private property.

The PTI has also been stung by allegations of corruption and "terrorism" against its leader. Khan has been accused of accepting bribes, running a fake charity, and inciting terrorism and blasphemy. He has denied the charges, and says the accusations are part of a conspiracy against him. Pakistani authorities have restricted access to Twitter and Facebook in some regions of the country in an attempt to control protests over Khan's arrest.

Fawad Chaudhry

Fawad Chaudhry is a Pakistani politician and journalist. He is a member of the National Assembly and the core committee of the PTI. He also serves as the party’s information secretary and spokesman. He has also presented a political TV show called ‘Neo News’. He has a strong background in politics, and his family members have served in important positions in Punjab’s politics.

He condemned the violence that erupted on May 9, following the arrest of Imran Khan in a corruption case. He also condemned the attacks on government and military buildings. His resignation comes a day after former minister and Khan’s close aide Shireen Mazari quit her post.

Chaudhry has a long history of criticism of the state and its institutions. He has also defended journalists who have been attacked by state forces. He is one of the few politicians who has stood up for the freedom of speech in Pakistan. He said that the current practice of forcing opposition leaders to leave politics wasn’t right. He added that the incumbent rulers shouldn’t take pleasure in their opponents leaving the political arena.

Chaudhry has been criticised by the ruling party for his comments on the current situation in the country. Many have accused him of being a traitor. He has been arrested by police several times in the past for his criticism of the current state apparatus.

Dr Muhammad Amjad

Dr Muhammad Amjad, a PTI leader and member of provincial assembly from Sindh, has quit the party and politics. In a statement, he said that he had decided to quit the party after watching videos of the May 9 violence. He added that he will continue his political struggle but without PTI. He also condemned the attack on Jinnah House.

The PTI has lost a number of key leaders in recent days. Several of them have quit the party after expressing concern over the violent protests that erupted following Imran Khan’s arrest in the Al-Qadir Trust case. The riots also led to the destruction of government installations and properties.

Several PTI members have also resigned from their provincial assemblies. The list includes former Federal Minister for Human Rights Shireen Mazari and Fayyazul Hasan Chohan.

The number of PTI leaders who have quit the party continues to increase. On Thursday, two more leaders announced that they were leaving the party. The announcements came after a series of violent protests that left at least eight people dead. The PTI’s own supporters and workers stormed and torched state facilities across the country. The leaders, including former federal minister Aamer Mehmood Kiani, Karachi MNA Mahmood Baqi Moulvi, and Sindh Assembly MP Sanjay Gangwani, condemned the attacks on military installations. They also claimed that the protests were harming Pakistan’s interests.

Malik Amin Aslam

ISLAMABAD: The fallout from the May 9 vandalism by Imran Khan’s followers continues to take a toll on his party with another senior leader leaving it. Malik Amin Aslam, the former advisor to the prime minister on climate change and head of the Billion Tree Tsunami project, has resigned from the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI). He said his decision was based on the fact that the party had been overtaken by an agenda that got exposed during the protests on May 9. “Wherever rallies and processions were taken out, they targeted military installations. This is fulfilling the dream of our enemies,” he added.

Aslam is a leading environmentalist with national and global repute and has written numerous articles on the subject of climate change. He is also a member of the International Editorial Board of the journal Climate Policy. He was awarded Tamgha-e-Imtiaz, a high civilian award, for his contribution to the environment sector.

He had contested the 2018 elections from Attock but was denied a ticket by Imran Khan who chose to give it to Major Tahir Sadiq Khan. The move was met with anger by locals and Malik Amin Aslam has now resigned from the PTI. He has joined the likes of Aamer Mehmood Kiani, Sanjay Gangwani and MNA Mahmood Baqi Maulvi who had already quit the party over attacks on defence and public installations.
